| PONY JOCKEY CAMP Whoa! Hold yur horses now!! If you have a serious equestrian in your family, this is the camp you need. Pony Jockey Camp is for the committed rider, serious about expanding their knowledge and skills in an intense program of equestrian activity. Campers will be fully immersed in the myriad of daily training activities required to turn a back-yard grazer into a lovely, educated pony ready to enter the show ring. There will be no craft activities at this camp. Nor will there be talent shows, scavenger hunts or pony-painting parties. This camp is dedicated to the child that has a serious interest in equine activities and wants to pursue it as a long-term sport activity or even as a future career. Does this describe your child? If so, then this is the camp for him or her this summer!! Campers will be given the responsibility of the overall daily care and the supervised training of their assigned mounts for the entire week of camp. Daily care involves the camper being responsible for the feeding/watering and stall maintenance of assigned animals and thorough examination of the animals every morning to be sure that they are sound and free of any injury that may have occurred over night. Prior to the conclusion of the camp day your child will perform the examination again. Training involves your child educating ponies in proper ground manners to include grooming, desensitization, tacking, untacking, bathing, trailer loading, show preparation, and other proper barn manners expected of a show pony. It also involves a daily ride on each of the assigned mounts. All training is conducted under the supervision of our professional instructors and trainers. Riders will be required to ride each assigned pony through a series of patterns and/or obstacles during the training period. Without a doubt, it will take hard work and teamwork on the part of your child, our trainers, and the ponies - but by the end of Camp Week the riders, ponies, and trainers will be ready for the horse show! Yes, every camper will compete in an off-farm horse show each week and learn the thrill of competition. Campers will gain an insight into all the behind the scenes parts of a working horse farm. There will be LOTS of riding and training, LOTS of stable management, hands on veterinary care and medical maintenance and prepping show animals for buyers and shows. Campers will be hands on involved with assisting with the training of youngsters under saddle thru competing in a horse show each week of camp. Pony Jockey Camp offers serious horse enthusiasts the opportunity of a lifetime. We'll be buying a horse at auction, travelling to a horse show each week, riding and training ponies and presenting some of them to prospective new owners. Campers will 'run the farm' during camp week. They should expect to work hard but will head home happy and excited for the next day to come. Campers must meet certain requirements to be accepted to this very limited opportunity. Eligibility requirements are listed on the registration page. $525.00 per week $1500.00 for all three weeks Includes horse show fees Camp runs Monday thru Friday from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm. Camp will be offered the weeks of: July 18 - 22 July 25 - 29 August 1 - 5 Sign up for as many weeks as you like, however, this camp is available to a very small number of children and preference will be given to those who sign up for all three weeks.
